Gaëlle Olivier is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, currently serving as Deputy General Manager and Chief Operating Officer since January 2022. With a robust background that spans multiple global markets and a commitment to innovation, Gaëlle has established herself as a prominent leader in her field.
Her career began at Crédit Lyonnais, where she worked as a Financial Engineer specializing in equity derivative products. This foundational experience equipped her with the analytical skills and financial acumen that would serve her well in her subsequent roles. In 1998, Gaëlle joined AXA, a move that marked the beginning of a remarkable two-decade journey within the organization.
During her tenure at AXA, Gaëlle held several senior executive positions, dedicating a significant portion of her career—10 years—to the Asia-Pacific region. Her leadership roles encompassed diverse markets, including Japan, China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and India. In 2016, she was appointed CEO of AXA Group’s Property & Casualty business and became a member of the AXA Group Management Committee, further solidifying her influence within the company.
In late 2017, Gaëlle made a pivotal decision to leave AXA to focus on supporting startups specializing in data and innovation, reflecting her belief in the transformative power of technology in the financial sector. This venture into entrepreneurship was short-lived, as she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Société Générale Asia Pacific in January 2020, where she continued to advocate for innovation in financial services.
Gaëlle’s educational credentials are equally impressive. She is a graduate of the prestigious École Polytechnique and ENSAE, and she is a Chartered Actuary from the Institut des Actuaires.
