Eric Trump has escalated his criticism of New York City’s mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, claiming the incoming leader “hates the Indian population.” The comments were made during an appearance on Fox News alongside conservative host Sean Hannity, where Trump argued that major U.S. cities are being reshaped by what he described as a radical far-left agenda.
Eric Trump Targets Mamdani Over ‘Far-Left’ Vision
Trump, the Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization and son of President Donald Trump, said New York’s political direction has harmed the city’s global standing. According to him, New York was once the “greatest city in the world” but has declined because of “extreme politics.”
He then launched a sharp attack on Mamdani, calling him “a socialist… a communist” whose priorities he believes are misaligned with the needs of New Yorkers. Trump alleged that Mamdani wants to “nationalise grocery stores,” “arrest Netanyahu,” and holds hostility toward Jewish and Indian communities.
Corporate Climate and AOC Criticism Resurface
Trump also revisited his longstanding criticism of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, tying her to Mamdani’s political ideology. He again condemned her opposition to Amazon’s proposed New York headquarters, saying the project would have created “tens of thousands of high-paying jobs.”
During a recent Turning Point USA event, Trump warned that a Mamdani-led administration would “destroy a great American city,” insisting conservatives must prevent such ideas from spreading nationally.
Mamdani Set to Make History in January
Zohran Mamdani, who defeated Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa, will officially take office on January 1. His win marks several historic milestones:
- First Muslim mayor of New York City
- First mayor of South Asian descent
- First mayor born in Africa
- Youngest mayor to lead NYC in more than a century
At his victory celebration, Mamdani issued a pointed message to President Trump:
“Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, turn the volume up.”
He added that New York will prove that a country disillusioned by Donald Trump “can overcome him.”
