Govind Kumar Singh, born on February 5, 1986, in the Supaul district of Bihar, India, is a renowned fashion designer. With a passion for fashion from a young age, he pursued his education in fashion designing at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Bangalore.
Career Beginnings and Rise to Fame:
Govind’s journey in the fashion industry took a significant turn in 2009 when he participated in the fashion reality show “Let’s Design” on Zoom TV. Sponsored by Cotton Council International, the show challenged contestants to create themed garments within a limited time using specific materials. Although he did not win the competition, he earned the award for the best prêt-à-porter garment, showcasing his potential and creativity.
In 2010, at the NIFT Graduation Fashion Show, Govind’s innovative clothing patterns earned him the Most Creative and Innovative Design Collection Award. His persistence and unique style led him to re-enter “Let’s Design” in its second season in 2011, where he emerged victorious with his Haute Couture designs.
Establishing His Brand:
After his win on “Let’s Design,” Govind launched his own fashion label, Rainush. His commitment to empowering others was evident as he conducted fashion design programs for rural women in Assam between 2012 and 2013, helping them develop valuable skills in the fashion industry.

Govind has held several significant positions throughout his career. Since 2015, he has been an assistant professor at NIFT, Shillong, sharing his expertise with aspiring designers. He has also worked with prestigious organizations such as Aditya Birla Group’s Arvind Lifestyle Brand and Myntra. In 2020, he was appointed Deputy Director in the Designing sector at Myntra.
